If you're just getting a dusting it's fine.  You may want to watch your grip though.  In that picture the guy's thumb is right on the edge of safe.  The side blast from in front of the cylinder can be dangerous.  I've seen people get burns and break skin holding their support too far forward or high.  If you're catching that blast directly adjust your left hand back and/or down bit. I had grown up with revolvers as the only pistols I'd fired.  When it was time for my first pistol quals in the navy I was shooting with my normal revolver thumbs down grip on their autos.  Gunny was pissed and made me use a thumbs forward.
