Working on a Diorama + recent HAWLs

Greetings LALD crew! I haven’t been very active here and I apologize. I’ve been super tied up with school, work, and more importantly, working on a diorama.

I mainly want to have a junkyard/garage style diorama. But, you know the worst thing about that? There’s pretty much zero 1:64 scale garages available that fit the bill for a old garage. Most everything on eBay is nice clean Tomica garages and gas stations and you can’t really trust the scale accuracy of HO models to be big enough to look decent.

So, I did what any sane diorama-maker would do... I took the dremel to a 60's era Hot Wheels super Charger building. Don’t worry my friends, it was dead! The motors were toast and the electrics were corroded and nasty. It now has new life as a suitable scale garage. <3 I still need to paint some more details on it and rough it up some to give it some age. But, I’m super happy with how it turned out.

I kept the Super-charger sticker on the side and distressed it a bit to make it look like a promotional sign painted on the side of the building.

Here is what the building looked like before I chopped it in half and removed all the guts:

So, over the past couple of weeks my HAWLS have been mostly on the bay of eees. I picked up my first Hitch and Tow because I love the trailer and it will look great with the garage.

Found this M2 in WalMart. This is my first M2. I love this un-glamorous Ferd. Can’t wait to take it out of the box and shoot some pics.

And lastly, I was fortunate enough to find this MBX VW on the pegs at WalMart as well. Such an amazing cast! I look forward to swapping out the wheels on this.

That’s all for now! I still have a ton of work to do on my diorama and I hope to finish a Land Rover project this weekend as well. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
