And a good friday it is. So I completed the check boxes on my red ferrari list when it comes to Redlines. I now have the Ferrari 512S. At the moment I tell myself I am ok buying decent examples of redlines. In the future I will up the ante to near-mint to mint ones. A pic below!
First, some history, because I like that kind of crap.
The Ferrari 512, was first run by Ferrari in 1970 phasing out the 312P:
Unfortunately for Ferrari, the 512 was taking on the Porsche 917...which most of us understand is a complete monster (probably my favorite race car of all time). The 512S did end up winning the 12 hours of Sebring, but the Porsche 917 and 908 won just about everything else. It was phased out after only 2 years. The 917 rocking everyone's world caused many many rules to be changed and thus the 512S was no more.

Now some of you may also know that Hot Wheels has made a 512M. This is the version that was preferred for the faster tracks like LeMans since it had aero better suited to increased speeds. Like how the Porsche 917 had models such as the 917K, 917LH, and a couple others.

Now some of you may have noticed my initial image looks NOTHING like the 512S or 512M...you are correct. Turns out the car Hot Wheels produced was the Ferrari 512S Berlinetta Speciale....concept car.
