Some customs

Been a long time since I did any customs (especially finishing one...) and I made some up for christmas presents for some coworkers... they will be a bit late haha.

Anyways, most of these are vehicles they actually have (Willys, Tacoma, and Blazer), did have (the Mini), or wish they had (that R34).

First, the Taco. This one probably turned out the best. This casting desperately needed some help. No headlight/taillight tampos, and the rooftop tent was all green. I guess that’s what we get in return for having the removable tent...

Anywho, what was before (via Lamley):

And what it turned into:

Next up the Willys. Man this thing was difficult to paint... my buddy’s has a two-tone green/white and well it did not turn too great in 1:64... things are just too small for my skills haha.

Next is the blazer. I’m quite pleased with it as it looks nearly identical to my friend’s. Granted his doesn’t have the red glass. Everything else though is pretty spot-on. Even the smurf paint haha.

Next is the mini my buddy had to unfortunately sell. I couldn’t find a good (see-real) version of a mini made by hot wheels, so this sort of btcc-version had to do. I also made the mistake of getting one with a plastic body and metal base... made it through the pain anyways even with the wheel swap on a metal base.

Finally my favorite out of the group. Not sure why I never really noticed before, but the R34 skyline is quite a good casting from Hot Wheels. I recommend people customize this one more. Lots of great details to work with.

I went with the black and gold and added a japanese flag to the roof.

These didn’t turn out massively great, but I am excited to start working on more. The Testors spray-clear lacquer is amazing. It’s what I used on the R34, Willys, and Tacoma. I’ve got one coming up that will get a solid polish treatment and application of the black lacquer.

Here’s a teaser of what I plan on doing to an epic recent casting:
