LaLD Engine Week: Forced Induction Friday K3

Most of us have either seen this car or Philiphilip’s Gozzy K3 before so I will keep this short. Basically Kremer was taking 935's and going crazy with the rules. Body work was practically an ‘anything goes’ affair and they definitely pushed the limits. I decided to get this Dick Barbour Racing version because I love the old school Apple livery. At the 1980 LeMans, this car and the Gozzy DNF’d about half way through the race. This Apple car decided to melt a piston. I guess that’s what early turbo tech will do!

And since this is engine week, this twin-turbo flat six was able to push out 800 hp! Not too shabby. This 1:18 from TSM has excellent detail.

As always I’ll leave you with a video. Here’s some track action and a lot of flames... Porsche’s flat six has always sounded so good. Like butter.

Also a neat period photo of the 1980 lemans start!
