Made right at the beginning of the 80's, this 1 of 1 car is still to this day likely the most ridiculous street-legal car to hit the German Autobahn.
Walter Wolf was a racing and oil tycoon and needed something appropriate for his status to tear up the countryside with.
At the time the Porsche 935 was all the rage. Cool bodywork, a widened rear-track, and twin-turbo power pumping out over 700bhp, it was the coolest car in the racing scene and Walter wanted one on the street. Porsche basically told him no, so he went over to the master tuner and racing shop of Kremer.
Kremer had great success with the 935, with some of their cars winning major races of the day. The K3 was the one to beat with its spaceship-like bodywork. Wolf told Kremer to do whatever they needed to to make this car a reality. Whatever it cost, he’d pay.
In the end he got a car that was 98% a standard race car. All for the small sum of $800,000. That’s $800,000 in 1980... or nearly $2.5million today. Take a seat, Bugatti Chiron ;)
Apparently this car was very adept at murdering its rear tires, so Wolf would always have someone ahead of his trip have a new set waiting for him when he arrived.

This 1/43 model is made by TSM and personally is very close to matching the quality of something like Spark. Still, I always find it very cool that the model companies make cars like this with interesting, but not well known back stories.
