There was a train show in Mass this weekend, so despite another damn cold I and my partner headed over to see if I could find supplies for my diorama(no actual pics because I was too brain-dead to remember my camera). I’ve decided to go with HO(1/87th) scale buildings, as while they are undersized they are “close enough” and massively cheaper and more available than S(1/64th) scale buildings. I’ll be doing things like putting them on taller foundations to make them look more size appropriate.

Stuff I picked up:

Walther’s Winner Circle gas station. I’m a sucker for old enameled panel gas stations, and the angled corner on this one was what made it my top choice. The door will just barely let a Hot Wheels through. I was extra happy to discover that there are gas pumps from the 50s, 60s & 80s and two islands. So I can make it look like different eras by just swapping out the pump island.

City Classics Roadside Diner. This turned out to be really tiny once it was out of the box, but the detailing is awesome. I’m looking forward to having car shows in the parking lot.

City Classics Smallman Warehouse. This one is so my semis have somewhere to deliver to. The train sized doors work pretty well for 1/64 semis.

(I bought another smaller industrial building, but I forget the name and can’t find it online, so we’ll skip that)

I also have some buildings both from when I had a train layout back in my teens, and recent Ebay acquisitions.

This Engine House is going to be the garage for my towing company. I needed something big enough to fit my heavy wreckers inside.

Bobby’s Garage is going to get most of the base trimmed off, and will be the office for a small junkyard.

The shop should be very familiars as I photograph all my diecasts in front of it. It’ll be used as a generic body shop/garage such that it can go from being a restoration shop, to a tuner shop to the headquarters of a drift team by just swapping out the cars.
