Another car I’ve shared before. Although up until now it was the Hot Hatch edition of the 205. Did I do a T16 already actually? This one however, is as much bread and butter as it gets. The 205 Look.

And yes: there were even cheaper editions than the Look. Like the “Base” or the “Junior”. When it came to the Look it was not much more than some frivolous cloth on those seats. And maybe some warning lights in the dash. About to make the owner happy. Because there was no clock to be found so you bought an instant excuse for showing up late.

And it came with the second-level-up engine: a 1124cc TU1 engine putting out 55hp. But with barely 800kgs to haul it was actually quite capable. I’ve driven a lot of 205s in my life (not just the GTI) and let me tell you this: These cars really did challenge you to go throwing & kicking them around.

The 205 is starting to disappear from our streets though: time usually wasn’t that nice to the 205. Especially in our wet & cold winter climate.

The model is a Corgi Vanguards as well, just like the black GTI in my former 205 post. It certainly is decent. There’s two separate mirrors to be installed by the owner but I somehow didn’t yet do this. I’d probably just do the driver’s side anyway, just to prove it’s Bread Boxiness.

So is this the ultimate French Bread Box? Well, maybe the ultimate ‘90's French Bread Box, boîte de pain. Which other French carmaker made something this simple in that decade? It was made up until 1998. And in total over 5 million 205s have been produced.

When it comes to looks I’d better get out an R4 I suppose, if you don’t consider the era. Not that that one is such a looker but the R4 looks like the Brabantia Bread Box my grandmother had in the kitchen. Maybe that will happen for the finale tomorrow, not sure if I have one that I hadn’t shown yet. So maybe not.

At least I’m glad Bread Box week, after a bit of a slow start, took off excellent. What’s on next week? I heard someone mentioning Wedge Week?

No daily posts for me though. I enjoyed it but it always ends up takin’ more time than anticipated. Bon Week-End!
