Some of you might know Fabrizio and the DelPrado Lancia HF Integrale I use to experiment with a bit when I try new stuff. Well, I planned to add a friend of Fabrizio’s to help out a bit. Akebono and his Nissan 370Z. By Rastar.

Because cutting up my regular 1/43's ain’t gonna happen. I’m sure I got this cheap thing in a “Japanese” lot amongst my Datsun Cherry X-1 I showed in the first LaLD Car Week. Can’t go wrong showing a bigger difference when it comes to quality...

Just two screws was enough to open up this gem. It’s a 4-piece cast, not taking in account stuff like the glasses of the lights. For a driver I had the same Brumm figurine laying around Philipilihp showed you two weeks ago. But in the Nissan he’s supposed to be Japanese of course so let’s stick to the name Akebono instead of Patrick Tambay.

But instead of using Photoshop like Philipilihp to get Akebono in the car I just started cutting. That little stub under the driver. But also the steering column/wheel, without that removed Akebono’s head was touching the ceiling all the time:

Luckily the waist of the 370Z (which looks actually never convinced me somehow, I like the 350Z soooo much better!) is fairly high so you won’t notice that missing steering wheel anyway, assuming I keep the angle of shooting these a bit from below.

Still enough to be done to get it a bit more realistic. The cast itself has plenty of room to add lights but first I’ll have to weather those wheels a bit. Or use CGI to camouflage it a bit. And the missing calipers is something I can’t easily solve either. For now I’ll just put it back together, not sure about those side windows either. The left rear wheel wobbles awfully so only expect panning shots going from left to right. Maybe Fabrizio will join ‘m though...
