I know, I know. I’ve shown the Simca 1000 before. A lot. But, in my defense, I’ve never shown the one that started it all for this highly successful car. The 1962 base Simca 1000.

And as I’ve shared all kinds of information on this little French gem before I can keep the text to a bare minimum. I can gather a few to make some familyshots though.

And I didn’t even get all the derivatives out. Like the insane 270km/h Abarth 2000. Or Simca’s own developed coupé based on the 1000. Or all those amazing 3 Inches by Norev.

Just three Simca 1000s and an Abarth 1300 having fun. And it gives me the time to fiddle a bit with lighting and editing the pictures.

And was it that successfull? Yes, every year the Poissy factory would sell over 100k units, resulting in a production number of over 2 million. The fact it was produced for nearly 20 years is another indicator of it’s success.

So I dug up some old slides from my grandfather’s visit to Paris somewhere in the ‘60's and guess what: if there was a slide with any cars at all on it there’d be a Simca 1000 in there somewhere. Need proof?

My late grandfather did own a Simca 1000 though so he could have easily sneaked them in there somehow.

And not just successful commercially, of course it went on the track and gravel a lot. But there’s been other posts on that already.

But the base 1ooo is the one that truly resembles the Bread Box the most. It probably has even less luxury and power than my Pao.
