Car week ‘19: 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR

Sterling Moss said of this car, “The greatest sports racing car ever built — really an unbelievable machine.”

I almost chose my 1930s Bugatti Atlantic instead, but the details weren’t as nice as this SLR. Check out those seats! I saw one of the coupes at the Mercedes-Benz museum a few years ago and fell in love with the exhaust popping out of the passenger side vents. Unfortunately all of my models face the wrong way to display this. I believe I picked up this 1:43 at the Frankfurt auto show in 2015 from one of the many diecast dealers
