New Bright BMW Turbo Concept

Hey guys, this is a longer post about the BMW Turbo I posted the other day. I wanted to show you the lights in more detail, so I waited for a day like today, where the weather was gloomy, to enhance the lights, but still bright enough t0 show the full detail. Wait until the end to find out how much I paid for this beauty! If you want more information on the Turbo Concept, see my other post on it.

So this is a model from New Bright, aside from the lights, there is a motor inside powering the rear wheels. Whats great is that the lights are a separate system, meaning you can turn on the lights, without turning on the motor (which is really loud). There is an R/C version of this car, with a detailed interior, but I couldn't find one in the condition I wanted, and this came up, so I had to have it. I am slowly building my BMW Turbo concept collection, and aside from my Schuco version, this has to be the jewel of the collection.

This is a plastic model, but has some serious heft to it. I plan to do another post about how I restored it, but on the inside, there was a tube of metal inexplicably covered in perished rubber. It was very weird, but I think it is a part of the R/C version which had to be filled in, as it was not connected to any other component.

All the stickers are present, including the infamous double roundels. I was very lucky on this model, as the thin black bar you see running around the car is actually many small pieces of plastic, which usually come loose or break, but they were all present on this model.

The front roundel was missing, but I simply put one of my Tamiya BMW Roundels on the front.

As per Sn210's request, the way of turning on the lamps is by the knob near the two screws at the front, there is usually a sticker near with the directions, but mine doesn't have it. When you turn the knob, the lights pop up, and if you turn it enough, the tension holds the lights up, otherwise they close shut. For those wandering, the lights are actually small filiment bulbs, but when they break I'm going to replace them with some yellow LED's.

For those in the US of A, there is one currently available, in need of TLC: https://www.bonanza.com/items/like/230…

And for this beauty, I paid .... £10 ($14), which is a steal. The guy originally wanted £25, but I waited for the auction to end, and messaged him, and we arranged a deal.
