Hi guys, today I’m happy to share my recently completed M1 Rally car. This is a really interesting model, as this kit was commissioned by Alpina. Saw it on eBay for a good price and luckily I was the winning bidder. This is based on a Solido M1 1:43, and has extra pieces included, like the front lights and mirrors. However, as this is a limited kit produced by a small manufacturer, the pieces did not fit at all, and as you can see, alot of glue was needed to stick the lights to the front. Also, none of the decals fit properly. For the front lights, I had to get the decals off the paper, put them on double sided tape, and stick those on to the lights, otherwise they would just fall off.

All the decals and black lines were applied by me, and I have to say although it’s not perfect, I like the hand made look of the car. The wheels look fantastic afterI painted them silver

The rear got a bit messy, as with the Solido M1, the only way to open the body is to pull out the numberplate, which is impossible to do without damaging it. Luckily, I had a normal Solido M1 that I sacrificed to get the supporting bracket, but the numberplate cover got completely destroyed.

‘The fabulous BMW’, what a slogan! I doubt I’ll ever find another one of these. A lot of work went into this model, and it was quite frustrating to build at some points but I’m so happy with the result. Anyway guys, hope you enjoyed!
