The other day I was out and about in my house when I came across this MBX 5-Pack. Now usually I don't open these packs since I already have most of the cars that they contain. However, this one was new to me, and had a few models which caught my eye. The pack was of the tube style, so it dated back to around 2000, and it contained the BMW 3 Series coupe, the Mustang Convertible, the Ford Focus, the Mercedes S500, and the Porsche Boxster. I cracked it open and found that they are all really great castings, and that the paint on the Focus and Mustang is simply stunning! Pictures to follow:
I love the subject of this casting: the common 3 Series coupe...the side graphics are a bit garish, and I wish it had front tampos and the rear tampos ran onto the trunk lid, but overall a 7/10. Very heavy casting due to the metal base.
Beautiful paint, the orange just glows in the light...the graphics are pretty good, but you would never see one painted this way on the road...no light tampos, but the paint itself merits a 7/10.
Again, the graphics would be unseen in the real world, but the paint glistens and the graphics at least do fit into the theme. It lacks tampos again unlike the blue Focus casting, but overall a decent model. 6/10
I love the subject of this casting, not so much the execution. The chrome grille is a nice touch, but panel gaps and crease lines are nonexistent, and the paint is just an awful color for such a majestic sedan, and the ugly turquoise stripe just seals its fate. The blue version is much better, but I still like this one as it's the only Merc S-Class in my collection. 5/10
And we finally come to the Boxster. It's a decent casting, nothing exceptional but nothing egregiously bad either. There are tampos in front but not on the back, and the gold on green livery almost gives it a racing vibe, especially with 'PORSCHE' in block letters along the sideskirts... 6/10
Overall, this pack is great and I love having it as an addition to the collection. Questions/Comments go below :)
