So, if any of you saw my post yesterday on Oppo, you’ll know that lately I have been collecting school supplies in order to satisfy the requests of all my teachers...well, it seems that my mom enjoys buying school supplies almost too much (because she’s Asian she loves things on sale...stereotype all you want but it’s true...) Anyways, today I decided that I would take an inventory of what we have and organize the supply closet so that later in the year things are easy to find...well, I did find one interesting thing in the supply closet...can you guess?

Well hello there!
See, I stumbled upon an old eight-pack of 1:43 diecast cars from an unknown generic diecast company (I’m thinking Motormax?) that my parents had presumably given to me as Tooth Fairy presents until when I stopped losing teeth they then forgot about the open pack...six of the original eight were present, and I have the other two somewhere, a BMW X5 and Z8...the castings themselves are remarkably detailed for what seems to be a budget brand, but the quality varies and features are limited.
The cars were tightly fastened to their packaging but five minutes with a screwdriver set them free!
First off we have the original BMC Mini, seen here in a brilliant cherry red, complete with contrast coloring roof and center dials on the interior...small details are nicely rendered in silver paint, and the wheels add character to the package.
Then we come to the Ford Focus. I usually love casts of normal cars like this but this one doesn’t do it for me, mainly because of a lack of features and attention to detail especially in comparison with the Mini shown above.
This golden BMW 3 Series coupe satisfies my normal-car cravings to a much higher extent...nicely rendered interior and exterior and wheels and side mirrors that finish off the package.
These wheels are awful! Ugly and lacking the slightly-grippy nature felt by most of the other castings, these just look like cheap spinner hubcaps... Besides that it is a relatively nice casting of a 996 but pales in comparison to the Maisto of the same scale, possible comparison between the two coming up later.
The Boxter is relatively nondescript with a grey-on-grey color scheme and most details picked out in pretty good detail, if not staggering. Side grilles are nice and the wheels way exceed those put on the 996, however.
The last car featured today is the Z3. Mostly similar to the Boxter in terms of quality and attention to detail. I noticed that the two feature the same steering wheel and both seem to be manuals :) Overall I have noticed that the logos of the car manufacturers is also rendered well on these castings.
Having seen these six examples from this unknown diecast company, are there any others you would like a closer review of? I have around ten to fifteen other separate castings from this company, with everything from a Chevy Venture to a Pontiac Firebird.
Also, apologies about the number of photos in this post as well as the sometimes low quality ones...my point-and-shoot is about 7 years old now and despite me loving it to bits sometimes it refuses to focus...works fine in every other way though, strange...also, I found an unopened package of these cars as well, which I will examine later for evidence of branding...
