Holiday HAWL Part 1: Jobjoris Edition

Hello LaLD! It’s been a while since I’ve posted but after an excellent holiday HAWL I look forwards to sharing pictures of my newest acquisitions. First up is something very special. In mid December or so, Jobjoris and I got around to talking about European diecast which eventually resulted in me asking him to seek out a few Siku, Norev, and Majorette castings as part of my yearly diecast hunt. Though he could only find Siku and Norev, I was still overjoyed at the results which my dad purchased before they started their journey here. Three days ago, the box finally arrived! Luckily we still had our Christmas tree so the season wasn’t over yet!

Before Jobjoris began the shipping process, he first emailed me this picture. Needless to say, I got pretty excited.

This was on the kitchen chair on Friday. The wait for the weekend was excruciating.

This is what I find inside, neatly and carefully wrapped.

Beginning to free the little cars from their high quality, European plastic prisons that don’t cut you apart like stupid Greenlight clamshells.

A very accurate representation of a bonkers mid engined hatch.

An icon it its own right, Norev really went all out here. Perfect details such as the headlights and wheels really make it stand out.

The rally livery on this car is truly endearing and the intricate (although currently invisible) steelies finish off the package beautifully.

Unlike everyone else who seems to have a Welly 2CV, I now have a Norev one which replicates the earlier ‘stalk-eye’ models!

Perhaps not quite deserving of the DS name, I have heard the DS3 Racing is quite good in its own right. The roof and grille capture the real one perfectly here.

This DS5 reminds me of a shark with its chiseled front end design despite Citroen’s claims that it was inspired by aircraft.

Citroen wagon! This C5 Touring is so wonderfully mundane but rendered beautifully with chrome wheels, a gorgeous red paint job, and a stiff but working suspension (albeit not hydro pneumatic here...)

Another Renault classic! This one is definitely a model to be proud of with its fine lettering and pinstriping and awesome three spoke wheels.

Although it may seem less detailed than its father car, the A110 50 is astounding with accurate wheels and hollow exhaust pipes.

The mighty KTM! A very wide casting with a very orange driver. Lovely!

Although I don’t have a MBX Alfa yet, I can say this Siku definitely suffices. A bit proportionately wide like the KTM, but sturdy and loaded with detail!

A great Audi with shiny black wheels and a very detailed grille design.

I love the smoked glass on this Multivan, and the dark green lends it a very sophisticated feel.

The Golf we never got looks great in this coat of read with the customary VW logo appearing throughout.

This is a great color for the mighty Wiesmann especially with the tan interior and salamander logos.

This is apparently what the Europeans think is a Class A motorhome. Likely not fast because of its Fiat Ducato chassis, the Niesmann and Bischoff Arto is at least stylish with the orange base and detailed embellishments.

This is a great combo as shop teacher can attest to, with both Porsches in matching paint scheme and the trailer being a very high quality piece compared to the sometimes half-assed attempts that American manufacturers provide.

Finally this classy dark blue Cayenne came with a very large camper as well as a manner of figures and accouterments to bring the 1:55 world to life!

Well, that’s everything. Thank you so much for this opportunity Jobjoris, and thanks to everyone else for scrolling through this gallery. Expect to see the rest of the holiday collection by the end of this week, and these castings to pop up on random themed days every now and then. See you around LaLD!
