Mustang Monday

I went back to TRU and picked up a couple of the other GL Muscle releases that I had been on the fence about. This is one of them. It’s Greenlight’s Ford Shelby GT500.

This is one of the better modern muscle cars that GL makes. Their Camaro is absolutely terrible by comparison. I actually like this generation of Mustang a lot, and it’s a much improved facelift from the 2005-ish version. The color scheme on this model isn’t exactly my favorite, but I like the fact that GL used a different set of wheels on this one than for a previous version that I own, which you will see down below.

I mentioned in my previous GL post that I did not encounter any significant quality issues with those three models from the same post, which I was quite pleased about. This one, as well as the ‘70 Camaro Z28 I picked up along with it, demonstrates a regression to the mean. The quality on this one is bad, period. The left side sits higher than the right, the taillight pieces are all loosey-goosey, the tires shift around too much, and so on. You can probably tell from these photos that this model is anything but pristine. It’s not as apparent when you’re looking at the product, in its packaging, at the store.

That being said, if you can find a good example, this is definitely worth getting.

And lastly, a shot with an earlier release Shelby GT500, in a better color scheme and better wheels, IMO.
