When one is in Asia, Hot Wheels, Matchboxes and the likes, are usually priced at extortionate rates. The alternative is of course Tomica, which is right up my alley.
I’m currently in Taipei for work and had some time after meetings so decided to check out some hobby stores. There aren’t as many options here when compared to Hong Kong or Tokyo. My online research only yielded one place - Wan Nian building at Ximen. There’s only a handful of tiny stores in there and most stock the usual Gundam model kits or anime/manga kawaii stuff. But I did strike gold at one place that had many Tomicas that I wanted.
For instance, the newest Premium Mitsubishi GTO (the Honda S2000 was out of stock but owner said check back tomorrow so fingers crossed), the new Dream series Intial D S13, the 2 new Civic Type R’s and the 2 Tomica Shop food trucks (very high on my wanted list).
But the one that got me all giddy was Tomicarama parking lot. I have been wanting one of these for a long time but was never able to find one in Japan. Evil Bay has these at ridiculous prices so even though the price of this parking lot was high, I knew I had to get it.
All will be opened up when I get home in 2 week’s time.
