Preferred by celebrities, stockbrokers, and heads of state all around the world, the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class is easily one of the most recognizable Mercedes of the past 50 years. When I came across this gorgeous Norev 1/18 model of the S600, I knew it had to be mine.
For only $100, it feels worth every damn penny. This is a 1997 S600 in Brilliant Emerald Metallic over Parchment leather. It also has burl walnut wood trim that gives the interior a stately ambiance.
I chose this specific S600 partly because it doesn’t cost almost as much as a car payment, but also because it’s one of the few Norev 140s with front amber corner lights. I’m a big fan of amber reflectors and lights on any car, so I figured this would suit me perfectly.
Almost a foot of 90s Mercedes aesthetic. If you’re an aspiring third world despot, this is the car for you. I absolutely love the wheels on it. They definitely give an S280 look to the car. Were it not for the V12 badge on the c-pillar, you probably couldn’t tell it’s anything special from the side.
From the back, it looks like any other 140 with the glaring exception of the “S 600" that tells everyone that you’ve either made it or that you’re on your way to throw someone into a gulag.
This car really does look exquisite from every angle.
I will note that the Mercedes-Benz hood ornament is EXTREMELY fragile. Also, this one is especially neat because it has Dutch plates in lieu of the German ones on almost every other version. Most importantly, HEADLIGHT WIPERS!
If we look under the hood, we find that it’s rather well detailed.
The M120 V12 looks sensational.
Aside from the crooked trim left of the gauge cluster, the interior is nicely finished and detailed. It looks remarkably authentic.
Enough rear legroom for any 1/18 Colombian drug kingpin or businessman in Miami.
I loved it so much I decided it needed an Azurite Blue S500 friend to keep it company. I’ll be sure to take pictures of that in the near future.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. It would make an excellent addition to any collection.
