Diecast Discoveries At My Grandfather's House

I was over at my grandfather’s house last night for supper, and decided to go through some of the old toys myself and my brother and cousins had left over there from our childhood. I was mainly searching for some of my old diecast (I used to keep a bucket of Matchbox and Hot Wheels over there) but didn’t find them. I did find some other stuff though. Still diecast, just not mine.

First we’ll start off with my uncle’s 1:24’s.

Some old Mercury. I couldn’t find the exact model name.

And then, what I believe to be a Ford Model A in 1:18.

And after a little digging, I found two little diecasts, about HW size.

This is a Ford J Car made by Aurora Cigar Box. After a little research, this car is an H.O. scale and came out around 1969. It’s missing the front wheels/axle and is pretty beat up, but still a neat find.

This one took a bit more digging to figure out. The only discernible information I could get off of the cast was that it was a Ford. Everything else was really worn down and too faint to make out. I finally discovered (thanks to Google Image Search and Pinterest of all places) that this a 3” diecast made by Tootsie Toys from the 1960s as well.

All pretty cool finds. Now if only I could find the stuff that I left over there as a kid. I’m sure my mom probably has it all now stored away...
