Tuetonic Tuesday: Porsche Paperweight

Back in the day (like a year ago) I worked for a luxury car dealership that sold 11 different brands, almost all of them luxury brands. While the main part of my job focused on Mercedes-Benz, I did quite a bit or work with Porsche as well, which always made me happy. I’ve always loved Porsches. The very first toy car I ever got a was a big plastic 911 (993 I believe). It had a yellow body, red roof, blue hood, green spoiler, and red wheels iirc. I don’t know what ever happened to it, but I imagine it’s somewhere in the attic at my grandfather’s house now.

Anyways, when I was at work, I was always trying to be in the Porsche showroom on their lot. I got to know the Porsche manager pretty well, so whenever he needed help with something, he always came to me. That meant I got access to some pretty cool events that most others didn’t get to go to. One of those events was the dealership’s launch party for the new Macan. This was an invitation only event for anyone who had pre-ordered a Macan or was with the local chapter of the PCA. As with any automotive party, there were little gifts and stuff that they gave to the attendees. The coolest thing from this launch was a chrome 1:43 scale cast of the new Macan Turbo. I believe it was meant as a paperweight, but I have it displayed with the rest of my 1:43s. It’s not 100% detailed (no sideview mirrors), but it’s still nice. I’ve included a few pictures from the event itself as well. Enjoy!
