Recent HWEPS

I’ve gotten kinda slack about getting HWEP posts put together as I’m usually posting from my phone, which is not fun for picture heavy posts. So now that I have a few minutes at my computer, and a few HWEPs to post about, let’s get to it!

First up is my trade with Frosted:

I was able to check a few things off of my “must have” list for casts that I missed out on. The first being the Sesto Elemento. I have the more recent green and blue releases, but the classic grey and red came out before I really got back in to collecting. Then there’s the Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak truck. Another cast that came out right as I was starting to “grow up” and not really play with Hot Wheels for a while.

Also included were the C5 Corvette, which I have no casting of (that I’m aware of), Ferrari 355 Spyder, two MBX police Lambos, the HW Police Dodge Charger drift car (going to the customs bench), the ECTO-1, a Greenlight Black Bandit AMC Javelin police car, and three Treasure Hunts! That Camaro TH is one I really though was cool looking whenever I’d see it in pictures from other collections, but was one I missed out on again during my absence from collecting.

Next up was my trade with SHARPSPEED:

This originally stared out with me seeing that he had an R34 he was looking to get rid of. Being the proprietor or Chris’s Home For Wayward Skylines, I knew immediately that I had to come to it’s aid, along with it’s R35 cousin.

I then saw he had the white Ken Block Fiesta to compliment my black version, along with the E92 M3 GT2 that I missed out during my time away. And on top of that, he threw in two RAOKs! A cool Cobra and a Batmobile! I think both of those will be lined up for eventual customs. I already have a cool wheel-swap idea in mind for the Batmobile... ;)

Thanks SHARPSPEED!

And last, but most certainly not least, is my trade with vdubyajohn. This one we worked out over the course of two months or so. And I must say, it is a glorious sight to behold.

After opening the box and removing the top layer of padding, I found two very nice packages wrapped with newspaper. It’s like Christmas came early! Very awesome wrapping job John!

So, after feeling like a kid at Christmas and unwrapping everything, here’s what we’ve got. First up, the carded Porsche 911 GT1, Panoz LMP-1 Roadster, and ‘32 Ford.

The Porsche I’ve been looking for for a while. My main collection focus may be Skylines, but Porsches are a very close second, so I’m very happy to be able to check this one off my list.

Next, the Panoz. I never knew a cast of this had been made, but I’m sure glad they did. I always loved the Panoz stuff with it being Pontiac based and just a weird and quirky take on American Muscle. Then they got in to endurance racing and the car only got cooler. The LMP-1 was a must have.

And finally for the carded stuff, the ‘32 Ford. Now, back when I was a kid, I had a swear I had this cast. It didn’t come out until I was a little bit older, but I am sure I had it. I’ve have looked high and low through all of the boxes of my and my brother’s old diecasts to find it and it’s classic design, but never was able to. Now, thanks to vdubyajohn, I have a pristine example to display in my collection.

On to the loose stuff. In the back we have a Camaro stock car in a very cool pearl-esque black. This cast reminded me of the days when IROC ran the 4th gen. Trans Ams, which I absolutely loved. Then there’s previous model Ford GT. Then two Cadillac CST-Vs! I only asked for one, but John threw in a second! Now I get to have on to customize, hehehe. That’s also what will happen to that Datsun 510. Strangely enough, one of the casts I traded to John was a 510 wagon for a custom of his own, hahaha. Funny how that works out sometimes. Next we have the Matchbox D.A.R.E. ‘33 Ford to add to my police vehicle collection. The Audi R8 was once again, another car on my check list that I missed out on. The Escort will be going into the customs queue, as will the Volvo.

The last car, another RAOK, perplexes me a bit, as I’m not quite sure what it is. It looks kind of like an old Lotus maybe? Or a GT40? I’m not sure what it is, but what love to know so I could customize it to its full potential.

Thanks John!

And again, thank you all for such wonderful trades. It was a pleasure dealing with you fine gents and I look forward to any further trades we may have in the future!
