Anywho, as soon as I saw this 964, I knew it needed to be, what’s the nice phrase here? Let’s go with “improved upon.” I love Magnus Walker and his awesome collection of Porsches. His Urban Outlaw stuff looks really cool. But this cast did not do any of his cars justice. The red bumpers were plastic instead of paint, the main color should’ve been white, not silver, needed a better choice of wheels, etc. So when I found the series in Walmart the other day, I bought both 964s. I kept one as is, and the other when right to the workbench.
Since this care came already with multiple colors and lots of decals, I wanted to make a more subtle, cleaner version. I decided to just do a basic white, black or tan interior (still working on that), black wheels, and then all the detail work (lights, door handles, vents, etc.). I was getting close to having everything ready for clear coat and final assembly, but got a little careless trying to rush it to have it done for today, Teutonic Tuesday. My carelessness resulted in smudged paint on the hood/frunk, chipped paint on the front end, chipped paint on the side view mirror, and a thumbprint of paint on the passenger’s side.
I went ahead and put it together for a mock-up to get a general idea of what it will look like completed. Please note that I have not yet painted the interior, fix my mistakes from last night, or put clear coat on anything.
So tonight, I’m going to completely strip the paint off of it and start from scratch. Hopefully I can be a little more careful the second go around. Bonus shot of my upcoming projects: The Porsche department is really hopping right now, hahaha!
