You may have heard talk around here of an estate auction site called EBTH (Everything But The House) that has had some awesome diecasts going across the block. Well tonight, they had quite a few AutoArt 1/18s in varying conditions, a few of which piqued my interest due to their INCREDIBLY cheap current bids. I had created an account after seeing that they give you $20 off your first purchase, and my wife did as well. I made a couple low dollar bids near the end using the two accounts, not thinking either would stick. But they did...
First up was this beautiful black VW Phaeton.
The only flaw is the missing side-view mirrors. I’m sure those can be replaced pretty easy, so I bid $20. It won. With that $20 off first purchase offer, this was free. I just paid the $13.03 for shipping.
Next was a pair of Mitsubishi Pajeros.
The red one just needs it’s mirrors attached. The blue one supposedly has a broken rear seat. I’m sure it’s something that can be mended fairly easily. Using the wife’s account, I bid $20. Got outbid. Decided to bid a second time just for the heck of it. $23. Winner winner. Using the offer from her account, this pair set me back a whopping three bucks, plus the $15.99 for shipping these beasts.
I’m still a bit dumbfounded. I was not expecting to win these auctions, let alone win them so cheaply! Obviously there will be full photo shoots of each car once they arrive. And if anyone knows where I can find a set of AA 1/18 Phaeton side-view mirrors, I’ve suddenly found myself in the market...
