Poking around eBay, I decided to search concept cars in the diecast category, and there's a bunch of 90's and '00s concept cars available. Some of them are in a little rough shape and could use some TLC to make them shine again.
First up is this Pontiac REV Concept, shown at the 2001 Chicago Auto Show. The REV featured a 250 horsepower V6, AWD, 5-speed sequential manual transmission with automatic mode, and some pretty slick sliding rear doors.
Imagine if things had gone a bit different and GM was daring enough to build something like this. Something fun that could have given the Subaru Impreza WRX/WRX STI a run for it's money.
Unlike the REV, this next one did evolve into a production model. This is the 2001 Cadillac Vizon Concept, shown at NAIAS in 2001.
Look closely, and you can tell that this concept was the predecessor to the original SRX.
That thing got a HEMI? Well, it should be pretty obvious, since HEMI is in the name. This is the 2001 Dodge Super 8 HEMI, which also debuted at NAIAS in 2001.
This fusion of retro and modern featured the soon to be famous 5.7L HEMI V8.
This next one brings back personal memories, as I had this exact version as a kid.
It's the 1992 Pontiac Salsa, designed by GM's Advanced Concept Center in Southern California.
Now, we're gonna go larger with some larger scale diecast and resin models, and what better way to start with this...
...that's right. The Porsche Panamera Sport Tourismo Concept, with only 1000 ever made.
Or, how about something from Down Under? Like the Holden Coupe 60 in 1:18 form by Classic Carlectibles?
Or maybe an Audi Sport quattro is more your taste?
What about you guys? Any concept cars models, large or small, that really catch your interest?
