[WANT] Concepts: Part Deux

Browsing eBay once again for concept car diecast.

This time, I'm sticking to 4 specific scales: 1:43, 1:32, 1:24, and 1:18, and concept cars that aren't usually commonly thought of when the topic of concept car diecast is brought up.

It didn't take me long to find the first one I'd really like.

This is a 1:43 scale model of the 2003 Lancia Fulvia Coupe Concept.

These models were made to go with collectable magazines, according to the listing.

Here's a picture of the real thing, by the way. [Image Source]

It's a real shame Lancia didn't put something like this into production. Might have saved the brand...

Oh, and here's an even nicer looking Norev one for a bit more money.

The next one I found comes from Norev, a 1:43 scale model of the 2005 Volkswagen EcoRacer Prototype.

As you would expect, it's powered by a TDI diesel engine. The car was designed to function as a coupe, roadster, or as shown in the diecast, a speedster, with a removable and configurable top and windows.

This next model is of something I didn't even know existed. It's called the ВНИИТЭ-ПТ, or VNIITE PT, a Soviet taxi prototype designed by the Research Institute of Esthetics.

Not much is known about this, but it was apparently based on Moskvitch-408 mechanicals.

The model itself, though, is DeAgostini. That's for certain.

This next model goes back to the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Jaguar RD6, and is yet again another Norev model.

A very interesting concept for Jaguar: rear suicide doors and a hatchback body with a hatch that opened sideways. Not your typical Jag, that's for sure.

Wrapping things up is this funky looking concept from back in 1991, the Mercedes-Benz F100.

Shown at the 1991 North American International Auto Show, the F100 displayed many technologies that would become commonplace in the automotive market in the future.

  • Autonomous cruise control system ( 1999 Distronic)
  • Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist (2010)
  • Solar cell roof (2002 Maybach 62)
  • low beam HID Xenon headlamps (1995)
  • Voice recognition (1996)
  • Tire-pressure monitoring system (1999)
  • Rain sensor (1995)
  • Chip card instead of car keys (1998 Keyless Go)
