Last weekend, I served as the MC for Japanese Classic Car Show’s Street Neo Classics 80s-90s event. By now, you’ve seen photos of the prototype Hot Wheels RX-7 FD and Mazda REPU here and elsewhere (but what the heck, here are mine) following their display at the Japanese Nostalgic Car booth.
While visiting my friends at JNC, I had a chance to chat briefly with HW designer Jun Imai. Now, opportunities like this don’t come along every day, so I wasted no time in pressing my agenda on the esteemed Mr. Imai. I present to you now a direct snippet of our conversation:
CITIZEN PATRICK: So, Jun, I’m still waiting for you guys to do a Citroen SM.
JUN IMAI: And you’re going to be waiting a long time.
And that was that. Not that anyone had been speculating even REMOTELY that Hot Wheels might tackle the Citroen SM, but at this point, it’s safe to say they’re not gonna. So now you know.
