Model Citizen/LaLD Model of the Month

We dropped a few hints last month, so for those who figured it out and have been waiting patiently, here it is: AUTOart’s 1:18-scale Honda Ballade Sports CR-X Si (1985), our LaLD Model of the Month.

When introduced in 1984, the CR-X was a revelation: here was a 1900-pound runabout that could outhandle many proper “sports cars,” and then the Si version came along a year later, all doubts were erased. The CR-X Si would go on to be performance legend, popular with autocrossers and other amateur racers, as well as with the tuner crowd for whom the CR-X would become a coveted icon.

As for the model, it needs little in the way of set-up. It’s a 1:18-scale AUTOart in old-fashioned diecast metal, so perhaps it’s a bit of an endangered species. As usual, the level of detail is tremendous; like its 1:1-scale inspiration, the AUTOart CR-X punches above its weight in terms of accuracy and hand-feel.

Like many older AUTOart castings, the price for the CR-X has dropped as the car heads for final production. Model Citizen’s price is $90, but as this month’s featured LaLD model, it’s only $75 when you use promo code LALDNOV at checkout. We have only red versions at the moment, but we may add black later in the month pending availability.
