With apologies for the late-month announcement, here it is: the Model Citizen/Live and Let Diecast! Model of the Month for February is TSM’s new 1:43-scale Honda Civic Type R. Nate13 gave us an early look at this model earlier this month, and based on response to his post we thought it would make a good MOTM candidate.
Typically, TSM’s 1:43-scale cars are resin, and the choice of diecast metal for the Type R seems to have been a budget-driven decision. To be completely frank, it’s not as crisp as their resin pieces, but it’s also substantially cheaper, and the detail is still excellent. The front fascia and rear wing are particularly noteworthy. I would say that when compared to similarly priced 1:43 diecast cars from Schuco or Minichamps, the TSM Type R stacks up quite well.
