There’s a new show coming to the L.A. car scene in a couple of weeks, and this one has something for us diecast folk. The Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo is hosting its first-ever “Porsche Gathering” on Sunday, September 16th. The show will focus on air-cooled P-cars, with a special emphasis on the 914, which the organizers feel has been underrepresented at SoCal’s other, better-known Porsche events.
So, why should you care? Well, besides being a car show, the Porsche Gathering will also feature a parts swap meet and...a collectibles show! At present, three model car vendors are signed up, with a heavy lean toward 1:64. David E. will be there with his usual varied selection of HW/MB/whatever, Vintage 43 will have absolutely gorgeous custom Hot Wheels (like the 914s pictured above), and of course Model Citizen will be doing what we do. There may be additional dealers too...sign up is still ongoing.
The Automobile Driving Museum is located at 610 Lairport in El Segundo, CA, conveniently adjacent to the Mattel factory store and almost unlimited dining options. If you’re in the L.A. area, I hope you’ll consider coming out to support this new show, and maybe leave with a few treasures for your collection. Ticket info can be found at the ADM’s website.
