Teutonic Tuesday: M2 Machines 1956 VW Bug

Hey guys,

Picked up this M2 Machines 56 VW Bug model kit. This was a lot of fun to assemble and slightly customize. It came with two sets of wheels, opening features, etc.

I was not fond of the stock stance and was going after the “Cali” bug look. After a little bit of grinding and many, many wheel adjustments I am pretty happy with this, though in order to get this to work the wheels are glued into place and do not roll. Also FYI for the alternate set of wheels they would have had to be glued, the axles were way too short.

I also deleted the opening features. As you can see the rear engine cover has a pretty big gap. The hood however, in it’s stock opening form had a gap the size of the grand canyon!

Finished with a coat of clear lacquer that I probably should not have done or at least I should have drilled and removed the window section first ;-)

Over all learned a lot from this and hopefully the second one I have sitting here will come out even better. I have to say this was an absolute blast putting it all together!
