I never knew my maternal grandfather. He died relatively young, in his fifties, before I was born. But he was a car guy, and I think that gene was passed down to me. His automotive history includes:

-1962 Chevy Impala

-1974 Chevy Suburban

-1981 Oldsmobile Delta Diesel (yes, the infamous one)

-1980- something Nissan Sentra

-1970 Dodge Superbee

-1969 Chevy C10

And a 1955 Chevrolet he was going to build into a gasser. The story goes that my grandfather picked up the car for veerrryyyy cheap with the idea of turning it into a period - style “gasser” drag racer. He gathered numerous parts for it; engine, custom headers, several four barrel carbs, exhaust bits, and more. However, the project never materialized. I don’t know if he lost interest or if he didn’t have the time for it, but the project sat. And sat. And sat. My grandmother wasn’t keen on A) having her young children (my mother and uncle) playing near a rusted out car and B) having a rusty car in her yard, so the Chevy was sold off. But all of the parts are still there, in a shed. My grandpa worked as an engineer for Western Electric and later as a Mac Tools salesman, so tons of other parts and tools have been accumulated. No one really touched the shed after his death, leaved a perfect time capsule of ‘60's and ‘70's car culture. All of the stuff in these pictures are in the shed; if I ever get a classic American car, they’ll be used on it.
