[French Friday] EPPD - Simca Chambord (+ bonus story!)

It's that time of our week to eat croissants while sipping a delicious café! It's French Friday! My 1/18 pick of the day is one of my favorite models of all time! I recall seeing this exact model in a diecast shop that closed years ago near where I live, called "Mundo dos Carrinhos" (or World of Miniature Cars in plain english). This model is somewhat special for me because it was the first 1/18 that caught my eye, when I was 11.

This is a Simca Chambord (or Simca Arianne in other places). This car was made in Brazil during the 50's and 60's, and it was one of the best and most luxurious cars we could buy. The TV series Vigilante Rodoviário (something akin to Road Patrol, in english, since vigilante in portuguese means guard or officer) boosted its popularity:

The Chambord was so important the group Camisa de Vênus made a song (which became a hit) which said

"Um dia me pai chegou em casa,

nos idos de 63

E da porta ele gritou orgulhoso,

Simca Chambord"

Or, in english

"A day my father arrived home

in the distant 63'

And from the door he shouted, proud

Simca Chambord"

Plus, the song is so catchy!

And now for the model! It's a Norev (like the Citroën DS Safari I posted in this week's Wagon Wednesday), with a lovely paint scheme in black and cream, real colors I had seem in the real life!

But wait, there's a bonus which came with the model!

For the title, I'll use EPPD as Edu-Petrolhead Pick of the Day, to save characters from the title :)
