1954 Fiat Turbina

After Petrolicious showed us the story of the Howmet TX, they wrote up two more pieces about turbine cars (here and here). One of them caught my eye: The 1954 Fiat Turbina. Look how Flash Gordon-ey it looks!

This is one of the few diecast models of it I could find, on an Italian model shop. According to it, it’s made by SpecialC-47, a brand I never heard of but I love already for doing this car.

These are photos from Petrolicious. What a slick car!

What’s even cooler about it is the fact it hadn’t only one turbine. This Fiat used 3! Two small turbines compressed the air to a bigger one, developing 220 hp @ 22k RPM.

I can only imagine how reliable is an Italian turbine car.
