Toy Show HAWL

Well, a small hawl.

Today I attended the local toy show, which is held 2 or 3 times per year. I've never attended before, as I was always working or out of town. I was hoping for tables full of loose mint Tomica, Majorette, and Siku for $2 apiece. Right. As expected, it was maybe 75% modern material (I hear there is an annual vintage show). I expected lots of scalper types selling their HWs, and I wasn't disappointed. Well, maybe a little, as I want a white Ducati, and no sellers had one.

But I did pick up a few vintage impulse buys. I am picky about condition - there was a bit of vintage playworn stuff, but I want mint. I found a late 70s era Majorette Alitalia bus, a Tomica 450SEL with a red interior (the one I already have has blue), a HW 380SEL (seller had a ton of 80s era mint HWs for $2 apiece, probably should have bought more) , and the oddities - a late 80s Bburago 1:24 288GTO, and a same era unusual Majorette 1:24 944 Turbo. The Ferrari is a memory for me, I remember getting this and a Bburago 1:24 959 around 1988, and I was amazed by them. These were all $2 apiece, even for the larger models. All 5 for $10 is pretty good, even if I don't really need the larger cars - I could't resist. I also picked up an early Matchbox, a 14a at a good price - 14a is an early model, introduced in 1955, and I think I only have 14b. I ended up passing on a couple of 80s era Siku the seller wouldn't budge on $10/$20 apiece, and a few other optimistically priced oddities. Not a bad morning.
