[REVIEW] Lone Star Impy Road Master Super Cars 1963 Imperial

It's Sunday, time to see another oddball car presented for your viewing pleasure. Here we have the 1963 Imperial coupe, made by Lone Star in the Road Master Impy Super Cars line (kind of a mouthful). This dates from the mid 60s, these were marketed as a notch above Matchbox.

I think this thing looks kind of mean with blackwalls and those hubcaps. These cars were real beasts - I believe these were eventually banned from demolition derbies, as they were too sturdy.

As you can see, it has the neat feature of jeweled headlights:

This was in the "Super Cars" line, because everything opens - impressive for the time:

(hood opens further, but won't stay up that high on its own)

A nice detail is the fairly accurate depiction of the kind of squared oval steering wheel seen on many Mopars of this era:

At 1:73 , it is small scale, but the model isn't small, as this was a big car. Imperials of this era make me think "WE'RE the ones in the Imperial, and WE'RE running last?!" (someone here will know that one):

A neat model from a long-departed and now obscure maker. I got this along with the mostly 80s era material I sold here earlier, but decided to keep this for my pile.
