Rescued - Tin Friction MG

This is a dimestore tin friction MG, Made in Japan. This was probably made around 1955. I found this at an estate sale last Saturday, thought some here might like it. Some background - my parents were hobbyist antique dealers when I was growing up, so I grew up going to sales and looking for stuff. I still go to a sale here and there, for the "thrill of the hunt" as I call it - get up early, wait in line, fight for things. Probably where my like of vintage material comes from. I seldom find old toys at these sales, but have found a few over the years.

Anyway, I went to a sale last Saturday, and saw this dirty neglected little car on a table. It had a look to it, so I picked up and decided to take it. The cashier lady pointed out that a wheel was missing - but I could hear it rattling around, it had just become detached and was stuck inside the car. I paid a buck or two for it, can't remember, as I got a few other things and bought as a lot. I brought it home, cleaned it, took it apart to fix the wheel, and here's what I have now:

It's not exactly an accurate or detailed model, and the proportions and detail have a funny cutesy quirky look to them. It reminds me of a Morgan, but the emblem clearly says MG. This would have been a toy that cost no more than 25 cents when new, possibly less. The friction motor still works. I had some buyers remorse when looking at it at first, but am now glad I got it. Something else for the shelf, just what I need.
