I once again recently visited my local collector friend (which will be detailed more in an eventual post), and he sold me his Tomica reference book. It's pretty cool.
This was printed in 1987, and has a full listing of every casting from the beginning to that date - all variations of each model. It's in Japanese, so the layout is backwards from a typical western book. Lots of useful data here, and many variations:

And something I like - a listing of each model with all variations, including production dates. There's a code key, so one can get by even with a poor knowledge of Japanese.
I haven't found any comprehensive English language Tomica books, but I am more than happy to have this, it will give me the data I like. I have also seen a 1987-97 version of this same thing.
