[REVIEW] Tomica Panther 6

Tomica time again, now that the 90s models are done, we can focus on (more) vintage castings. This one is a special request from Jobjoris, who saw it in the pile of Tomica I posted a couple months ago. This is Tomica F14, the Panther 6.

This casting entered the range in September 1979, and remained until at least the mid 80s. Scale claims 1:67, believable given the Tomica reputation for accuracy, and the size of the real car. This was offered in red and blue - the real car was never made in those colors. Tampos are typically nice. For some reason, Tomica decided to model it with the top up, but it doesn’t detract - only adds to the oddity:

Nothing opens - had the engine compartment been hinged, it would be even better. Front and rear are also well done:

Typical base of the era, more detailed than modern castings - has suspension at front and rear:

There’s a box, too:

It’s an eye catcher, and an uncommon casting. If you find a mint/boxed one for under $50, buy it - they don’t seem to come around too often.

The real car was a freakshow. Dating from 1977-78, a large 6 wheel convertible with a mid-mounted 500/8.2 Cadillac V8 - I am not sure if anyone ever asked that question, but Panther answered. During a time when bell bottoms and shoulder length lapels seemed like a good idea, and cocaine was considered to be a food group, it must have made sense. From what I can find, 2 were made, both survive:
