Tomica time again, today we get some vintage JDM style from the time when Japanese car design was sometimes baroque and a little busy (as it is now) and kind of Americanized. This is Tomica 13-3, The Nissan Cedric (330) 2800 SGL. This model was introduced to the range in September, 1976, and made through July, 1980 (I love this kind of data, provided by my Japanese language reference book). This was during the golden age of Tomica, and this model is typical of the era. Crisp detail with nice model script, nice glazing, springy suspension, doors that snap shut - this has it all:
Scale claims to be 1:65, which seems accurate. The real car was not small as this was a higher end vehicle, the casting is fair sized. I like models of cars like these, normal everyday cars you’d see on the road. It’s nice from all angles, and has a nice interior with textured seats and accurate steering wheel:
Front and rear are also nice, lots of small detail:
Nicely detailed base, as usual for the era:
There’s a box, too:
It’s a nice casting, I am glad to have it. This is one I found after the big show-off hawl I posted earlier:
Here’s the real car:
