[REVIEW] Tomica Cadillac Seville

Tomica time again, this time we examine an American car. This is Tomica F45, the Cadillac Seville. This is the “bustleback” Seville, a controversial design from deep in the heart of malaise - it was meant to mimic old Rolls Royce styling. I’ve always kind of liked this flamboyant style, and the Tomica casting is nothing but excellent:

Scale is claimed to be 1:69, which is probably accurate. This model entered the range in February 1981, and was in production for several years. I am aware of only one other small scale bustleback Seville casting, a Hot Wheels. The HW wasn’t bad per se, but I think this is several degrees better. The “Seville” Script on the front fender is especially nice. I think Frosted has a thing for both Tomica and 80s Caddys, so he should like this:

It features a correctly shaped steering wheel, and accurately contoured seats:

Doors open, front and rear are also nicely detailed:

Base is metal, gives some nice heft and (along with nice glazing, suspension, snap-shut doors etc) a quality feel:

It’s a fine quality casting all around, I again feel lucky to have it:

And the best part - it is quite common. I paid under $10 each for this, and for the carded one. I remember having one of these in my childhood fleet, as I liked the real car. Definitely something to get if one likes this kind of model:

This is the early 80s style card, which has cute line drawings and descriptions instead of a model list:
