Back to our regularly scheduled programming. It’s Sunday, last week was Tomica, today is Lesney Matchbox. Today we see Matchbox 7b, the Ford Anglia (105E). This casting entered the range in 1961, and was made until 1967 - a long run, due to the real car being popular. I’d estimate scale to be about 1:60. As expected, it is a nice piece:
I like silver wheel models, these wheels look good on most castings. By box and wheel type, I would guess this was made around 1962-64. As this casting dates to 1961, nothing opens, as such luxuries were still uncommon then. It is at the beginning of the era where models had glass. This is a popular casting, due to it being the “Harry Potter car”, and because it was a common sight on the road when new. Detail and proportion are nice from all angles:
Front and rear are just as well done, the tow hitch and brake lights are nice touches:
Base is typical of the era:
This model lives in a type “D” box:
As usual, I am happy to have this. I have always liked the cheerful somewhat jaunty design of the real car, and this casting has a definite charm to it:
