Surprise Saturday Siku - BMW R1200 GS

As it seems you guys like alliteration. I’ve been sorting stuff from the recent European trip, and thought I’d do a quick review of one of the few models I bought. This is unusual for me as it isn’t a Sunday review, and it is a modern casting. Today we examine Siku 1047, the BMW R1200 GS. This is a high quality casting as to be expected from the brand:

Detail is good from all angles, and I find this to be charming. I generally don’t partake in castings introduced after I was about 10 years old, but I like some small scale bikes. Scale is hard to estimate on this - small bikes are larger in scale than 4 wheeled vehicles - they are made to fit in the same box. I would guess this is maybe 1:45, but physically it is similar to a normal Matchbox or HW in size. I think the rubber tires and clear windscreen are nice touches, along with the BMW decal:

Front features the signature BMW asymmetrical face, and the rear has detail too:

Base is marked Siku. I also like the kickstand on this, which feels a lot better than the funky wide wheels on HW Ducatis:

The packaging is unique - the bubble wraps around the card with tabs, so you can remove it and put it back if you wish. The scalper dbags in NA would have a field day with this, but that doesn’t seem to be a thing in Yourup:

All models come with a fold out listing of available castings, including tiny pics:

Just a neat little thing that I couldn’t resist for ~$3.
