Fairlady Friday - Tomica Fairlady Zs

I’ve noticed the recent HW Z has been a popular item, so I thought I’d show some examples of how it was done back in the day. Here we have a few old Tomica Zs. The white car is Tomica 6-1, “Fairlady Z432”, and the blue and brown cars are variants of Tomica 58-1, “Fairlady 240ZG”. As expected, they are nice castings:

Tomica 6-1 was in production from September 1970 through March 1976. 58-1 was in production from August 1974 through September 1980. Both models exist in many variations, both are 1:60 scale per the base, and this appears to be accurate. They all feature the crisp glazing, nice springy suspension, and snappy door action that we expect from Tomica:

Although these are all effectively the same car, one will notice that the 6-1 and 58-1 castings are completely different. Among other things, 58-1 gains finer tail lights, rear hatch script, and cool headlight covers not seen on the older cast. One can also see the blue and white cars are on old wheels, while the brown car is on button wheels. Doors open on all:

Bases have a nice amount of detail, all are metal:

We all should know what a real Z looks like, so I won’t post a pic. These cars will eventually make their way to individual reviews. That is all.
