[REVIEW] Tomica Toyota New Corona 1700 HT SL

Tomica time again - today we get to examine another little Japanese hardtop coupe. This is Tomica 15-1, the Toyota New Corona 1700 HT SL. This model entered the range in March 1971, and was made through January 1976. It’s a good example of the type of once-unloved Japanese cars that are sought after now:

There’s ample detail from all angles. Scale is listed as 1:60, this appears accurate. As usual for old Tomica, it has doors with crisp action, springy suspension, and clean glazing,. This casting sits on old wheels, as the production run predates button wheels:

Doors open, interior has good detail, steering wheel design appears accurate:

Front and rear also have ample detail. “Toyota” cast into the trunklid is a nice touch:

The base also has good detail, and retains lustre. This model with a copyright date is from the initial Pocket Cars release - someone had some old stock with damaged cars, I think this got DLM’d after 40 years just last year:

As it was sold as a Pocket Cars, it has no box (and finding one would be insanely difficult), but that’s fine. I like these old Japanese hardtops, and this is a good example. I got it for a fair price, and am happy to have it:
