Surprise Saturday - Pocket Car Car Wash

It’s Saturday, time for another unexpected building-themed post. Today we take a peek at the Pocket Car Car Wash. This was one of a series of small playsets launched by Tomy/Tomica around 1981. These are toys rather than scale models, and they have some charm - I remember these from when I was a little kid. Here are some views of the car wash:

It operates as a toy - you drive the car into the wash bay, move the wheels into the push bar thing, and turn the crank at right, which moves the car through the wash area and foam brushes:

One may wonder why I chose these vehicles - they match the ones on the original box. I don’t yet have a Tomica Beetle sedan, so I chose the closest thing I could find :)

It’s a neat little toy, and I am happy to have it. In time, I will review my others:

Here is the rest of the series - I think I have 4 of the 6. These are not terribly rare or expensive - I’ve lucked into paying no more than $5 apiece for mine. They aren’t the most awesome technically correct scale models, but if one collects Pocket Cars/vintage Tomica, they are relevant and worthy additions to a collection:

That is all.
