Surprise Saturday - Pocket Car Conveyer

Time again for another unusual old playset. This one caught an eye or two when I posted the Pocket Car Car Wash - this is the Pocket Car Conveyor, out of the same set. These were launched during the heyday of Tomy/Tomica Pocket Cars in NA, around 1981, and there were 6 little sets. These are toys rather than scale models, but they still have plenty of charm:

I actually have the Hitachi dump truck as pictured on the box (Tomica 59-1, in the range from January 1973 to November 1983) - surprising as I don’t collect heavy machinery. However, I don’t have the loader, so I substituted a grey wheel Lesney Matchbox 24b Weatherill Hydraulic Excavator:

This set still has its original packet of material to use on the conveyor - I opened it for the first time today. It is a simple system - rotate the yellow crank, the rubber belt moves, and the material is moved to the chute and into the truck. There’s also a fun feature at front right, the red button raises the platform where the truck is receiving material, which makes it move away. Here are a couple other views:

As I was doing this, a few other vehicles wanted to get in on the action. A 10b Lesney Matchbox Mechanical Horse decided it wanted some of these Cocoa Puffs - probably not a huge load capacity in this:

I don’t know how many of these you’ll get in that pretty blue Nissan Gloria:

Yeah, probably won’t fit many in there with that little bike in the way:

Of course there’s an original box - this is another one I picked up mint in box for no more than $5 - these are out there and apparently not appreciated. However, I am glad to have it, a relevant and worthy addition to a Tomica collection:

I have recently browsed ebay, and found some more rare playsets - these are Tomy Pocket Car accessories from the same era. I have never seen these before, but definitely wouldn’t mind having them, They appear to be like the “white knob” Tomy wind-up toys (anyone else remember those?) of the era, and have some action. Here are a couple listings:

That is all.
