LaLD Car Week: Teutonic Tuesday - Tomica BMW 320i

Or more specifically, a BMW E21 Alpina B6 2.8. This is Tomica F23-3, the E21 320i. This is the second variant of the casting, not to be confused with the earlier F 43-2. This version entered the range in February, 1986. It’s an unusual piece, and it has that 80s German tuner feel that seems to be popular today:

This model lives in a final run (with barcode) original F-style box - studying the boxes is as much of a science as the models. If yesterday’s car fits in with period pop country music, this would go well flying down the road with Kraftwerk in the cassette deck. The casting itself has excellent “Alpina” stripe tampos, which give this car character as they did on the real car:

There’s excellent detail from all angles, and of course it has snap-close doors, springy suspension, and crisp glazing. I kind of wish it had the wide/racing style wheels, but the blue Alpina variant never did. The color is also nice, a vibrant metallic blue offset by a creamy beige interior featuring an accurate steering wheel - striking combination in real life, too:

And a couple 1:1 examples from germancarsforsaleblog and carscoops, showing off those stripes and trim:
