It’s Saturday, time again to look at something out of the ordinary. Today we examine another charming little Tomy/Tomica/Pocket Cars playset. This is the Pocket Car Garage, one of a number of accessory pieces issued during the heyday of Pocket Cars, around 1981:
I like to try to duplicate the box illustration. I am fortunate enough to have the cars shown on this box, but my Phantom is maroon, and my blue 450SEL has a yellow interior:
Like the other sets, this one has some action. As one can see, there is a lever and button on the roof of the garage. One opens the door, and one lifts the garage floor just enough so the cars come rolling out. A couple views of other angles:
Views with corresponding box illustrations (motorcycle is different, but good enough):
Detail of the base, and how it works:
The box on this set has stood the test of time and is in excellent condition, and worth showing off. The back of the box shows the other sets available at the time:
These little sets remain fairly inexpensive compared to many Tomica cars, and can be easy to find, just stalk out ebay, and you can maybe get one for $10 or so. Definitely a worthy addition to a Tomica collection. I am glad to have this, as I have memories of this from when I was a little kid.
That is all.
