[REVIEW] Tomica Toyota New Mark II-L

Tomica time again, which is also always Land of the Rising Sun-day. Today we examine a model that has been seen here before, but not the same variation. This is Tomica 69-1, the Toyota (Corona) Mark II. This casting entered the range in September 1973, and remained until January 1978. AlienProbe displayed his example a couple months ago, this similar but different example is an original release:

This model is one of numerous larger style 2 door hardtops produced by Japanese carmakers during this era, and modeled by Tomica - no doubt trying to get into the American personal car market. Scale is listed at 1:61, and this appears to be accurate. This model sits on “old” wheels, which seems to be the case for most of these old issues. Of course, the car has snappy door action, crisp glazing, and springy suspension -features we love about old Tomica. The cast-in badge script on the sides is a nice touch. Detail is commendable from all angles:

The base is metal, and has good detail typical of the era:

This model is not the most common, but not terribly rare, as it was also sold as a Pocket Cars in NA, so loose ones are the norm here. This model is unboxed, and is definitely one I am glad to have in my collection, as it fits in with several other Tomica 70s era hardtops that I have in my collection. This model also wraps up the series of unboxed models - future reviews will again feature packaging, which is something I enjoy almost as much as the models themselves.
